Terms & Conditions
Last updated: February 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Cave (the "App"), a focus timer application. By downloading, installing, or using Cave, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
1. Using Cave
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Cave on devices you own or control, solely for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Copy, modify, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or its content, design, or branding.
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable law, or that attempts to interfere with its normal operation.
2. No account required
Cave does not require you to create an account or log in. Your session data, streaks, and preferences are stored locally on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the security of your own device and for backing up your data (via the in-app Backup & Restore feature) if you want to preserve it across devices or reinstalls.
3. Focus Shield & app blocking
Cave's Focus Shield feature helps you block distracting apps during a focus session, using your operating system's own accessibility or Screen Time tools. It is provided as a productivity aid, on a best-effort basis:
- It relies on system permissions that you grant, and that you can revoke at any time from your device settings — at which point blocking will no longer function.
- It is not a parental-control product, a clinical treatment, or a guaranteed technical barrier against determined circumvention (for example, disabling the relevant system permission mid-session).
- You remain solely responsible for how you configure and rely on this feature.
4. Free to use, no purchases at this time
Cave is currently free to download and use, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. We may introduce optional paid features in the future; if we do, we'll clearly disclose pricing before you're charged anything, and existing free functionality will not be placed behind a paywall without reasonable notice.
5. Intellectual property
The Cave name, logo, visual design, environment art, and app content are owned by us (or our licensors) and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of that intellectual property to you.
6. Third-party services
Cave uses Firebase (a Google service) for anonymous analytics and crash reporting, as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of the App is also subject to the app store terms of the platform you downloaded it from (Google Play or the Apple App Store).
7. "As is," with no warranty
Cave is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements — including that Focus Shield will block every distraction in every circumstance.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of productivity, or missed deadlines — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Cave. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the App is to stop using it.
9. Changes to the App or these Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue features of Cave at any time. We may also revise these Terms from time to time; when we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Cave after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using Cave at any time, simply by uninstalling it — combined with Delete All Data in Settings if you'd also like your local data erased first. We may suspend or discontinue the App, in whole or in part, at our discretion, including if we believe you've violated these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the app developer is based, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you additional rights that cannot be waived — those rights are unaffected by this clause.
